Old: In SED newspapers browsed (1951 - 1964)
I find it interesting to browse through old newspapers. Today I took my time newspapers of the SED from which I had picked up or, like "new Germany" of 1951, was acquired later on.
Yes, yes, the "new Germany", the central organ of the SED, which I scanned from edition 14 April 1951 - at the time I still struggled in the womb to come in August 1951 to the world. In April 1951, the paper railed against the re-militarization-intentions of the Adenauer government. Since the paper had, however, legally, West Germany was a few years later, actually in arms again. Interesting article on the Helgoland since quite nationalistic. The SED assisted the West German activists who protested at that time with daring actions against the British occupation of Heligoland. Wikipedia: " remained until 1952 Helgoland military zone and Bombing of space for the British Air Force. During this time called British soldiers, the island cynical Hell-go-land (the land that goes to hell ). "
The" freedom "the organ of the district leadership of the SED was the district court, to which also belonged to Dessau. The output of 17 November 1961 brought to the front page a photo of the then imprisoned by the French leader of the Algerian liberation movement, Ben Bella. Ben Bella enjoyed great support of the East Germans at the time, unlike his successor Houari Boumedienne.
funny that one non-alcoholic Beverages in the workplace was advertising, but then it was not unusual that alcohol was consumed in the offices and that in the upper echelons is not too tight. Others gave to it a lot. Ah yes, the good old Howa, the HO-goods house in Dessau, this was really not bad, although yes, the supply situation was still very modest.
Dessau in the local section of the "freedom" of 28 May 1953, is reported to Dessau-South should get a club house. This was then actually built and many people helped to build free, some with hundreds of hours of construction work (NAW). Scandalous that this truly beautiful House, which was still in tiptop order, was demolished just after the turn to give way to a supermarket. Dessau was in the 50 years a bastion of auto racing. The newspaper announces a run for the June 1953. I once red marked a small article in the same issue. As is blatantly against the young men of the Protestant church communities rushed. This with sharpest attacks, the young Christians to make quasi public enemy.
In the first half of the '60s because there were few times a day was when a photo of Walter Ulbricht in the SED press to see. Many citizens had the "freedom" but only subscribed because of the classifieds, they cost only 15 pence so and who had just died or who was advertised for sale, are obviously interested in the East German citizens. On my scanned so outline a classifieds site for "freedom" young people will know only the washing-up liquid "Fit", which is indeed still on the market. But what are "protection" (by me in red)? This may be wondering later-born! Condoms were! That existed at that time to buy in pharmacies, but the shame restrained many people buy them there and then there was the discreet shipping from Kästner from Dresden. So the ads were Kästner decades in masses in all Newspapers in the GDR.
On my last scan can read that one in Dessau, the Wagner-care felt very connected. Odd, in GDR times, because Wagner was and is not without controversy because of his anti-Semitism and its Germanic hero-worship. For decades now dormant this old "freedom" in a chest and only today I read the article by Ursula Ensley "news for Ilona. I never knew that Ursula Ensley 1964 - the site is dated 9 May 1964 - for the "freedom" wrote. The later writer Ursula Ensley was the mother of a good friend of mine, Floriane Ensley. Hearing about Ursula, see: http://barrynoa.blogspot.com/2009/02/bekanntschaften-mit-dessauer.html .
